The software can be updated manually or by activating the automatic update function. The same applies to ICQ clients.
Necessary
·
- Internet connection;
·
- web browser.
Instructions
1 step
Open the
page in the browser on the official website of the program that you use to
communicate via the ICQ protocol. On the portal, find a section containing
different versions of the program, if necessary, sort by the time of addition,
and download the latest version from among them. If you did not download
the program from the official support portal, check the client for viruses and
malicious codes.
Step 2
Run the
exe file after disabling ICQ on your computer. If provided by the
installer, select the "Update old version" menu. If not, install
to the folder where the previous version of the client was installed. In
this case, all settings and parameters for accessing the account will be saved
and system files will be automatically replaced with new ones.
Step 3
If the
previous sequence does not work for your client, uninstall the old version from
the Add/Remove Programs menu in the computer's control panel. When
choosing uninstall options, you can select "Quick uninstall with saving
user settings" and you don't have to reconfigure the program.
Step 4
Install
the new version of the client to the same folder on the local drive of the old
computer. Run it, open the system configuration menu and make sure the settings
are saved.
Step 5
If your
client supports automatic download of the updated version, configure the
automatic operation mode in the configuration menu of the corresponding
program. However, it's a good idea to update manually after creating a
System Restore point, as many versions of the downloadable client are
incomplete and can cause problems.
